Cross folds

The cross folding sequence is firstly a half fold, parallel to the shortest edge (folded around the back), then a second half fold (also folded around the back) as demonstrated in the diagram below.

Orientation: Portrait Cross Fold

The bottom-right quarter panel of the front page is upright; it is the first panel that is seen when folded. The design template shows this panel with a red page edge.

  • Panels 2 & 3 are upside-down, when viewed in the design document.
  • The product code (A2…A3…A4…, etc) refers to the flat size prior to folding.
We advise that you produce a physical proof your design, to prove that your layout works.

Finishing Code: FRCROSS

If you have a one-sided cross-folding product, and want the white side to be on the outside when folded, then a ‘Reverse Cross Fold’ will need to be specified using the FRCROSS Finishing code.

Finishing Code: FCROSS

A2 - 420 × 594 mm cross folded to A4

A3 - 297 × 420 mm cross folded to A5

A4 - 210 × 297 mm cross folded to A6

A5 - 148 × 210 mm cross folded to A7

Orientation: Landscape Cross Fold

Panel 1 appears on page 1 of your document and is upright-reading. All others panels should appear upside down in your design application and Print Ready PDF.

We'd recommend printing out your design to ensure your layout works (we impose left to right).
