Adding and removing DNS records

It is also possible to add and remove DNS records for your domains in Flyerlink.

You can add the following types of DNS records:

DNS Type Explanation
A Commonly used to map a domain to an IP address where a website is hosted.
Used on w3shops.
Used for the "@" or " " record on Nettl or Brambl sites as an alternative to redirects.
CNAME An alias of another website. Used to map a domain to a website hosted elsewhere.
Not used on w3shops.
Used on the "www" or "*" record for Nettl or Brambl sites to point to the development domain
MX Maps a domain to a mail server.
Used by most popular email clients to allow @yourdomain.com to be used.
See how it's used for Gmail and Outlook360
TXT Human readable text that can be stored against the domain. Often used for 3rd party integrations as a way to prove your ownership of the domain.
Redirect Redirects a subdomain to a different url.
Redirect 301 Sets up a 301 permenant redirects of subdomain to a different url.
Used on Nettl or Brambl sites from auto-configuration as an alternative to the A record.

When you add a DNS record, you need to enter a Host, choose your Type, and choose the address.

The Host is often a subdomain, such as "www".
"@" or " " can be used to indicate the DNS should apply to "yourdomain.com" instead of a sub domain.

The Address should be:

DNS Type Address
A Enter an IP address of where your domain is hosted, eg 1.2.3.4
CNAME Enter a url of the domain you want to alias or point to
MX Enter a url of the mail server that will receive the emails
TXT Enter a line of text you want visible on your domain
Redirect Enter a url to redirect the subdomain to
Redirect 301 Enter a url to redirect the subdomain to

The tool tips will explain what each DNS setting is currently doing.
